I graduated high school officially yesterday on June 8th of 2015. I am happy. I always knew I would, there was no doubt in my mind about that. However, it just seemed like it’d never happen, you know? It was one of those things that you always anticipate, but it never seems like it will ever actually happen. It always happens to other people, but not to you. Graduation, and other Milestones are inevitable. I think it’s that inevitability that makes these events seem like it’ll never happen. You’re always waiting for it to happen, and when the moment is right around the corner, it seems unbelievable. At least, that’s how it seems to me.
Eight years of grammar school. Four year of high school. The time I spent in those two phases seemed eternal. Every moment I spent somewhere new on a different journey with different goals all seemed like they would last a life-time. I guess, in a way, they did. Every experience I had has helped to shape me to become the person I am today. Ahead of me, I have another 4 years of schooling, and possibly more than that. That time will be another journey in my life with new friends and new goals.,,It’s an endless cycle that repeats itself.
You do something for a set period of time with individuals. You make friends, enemies, have good times and bad ones, but ultimately, you push through it to the end. You and each and every individual all embark on a journey. Your paths may intersect every now and then, and you may even find yourselves along the same road at others, but ultimately, life goes on.
I graduated yesterday. Tens of thousands of others have also graduated this year. While we may have all graduated, that’s where the similarities in our journey end. One chapter is closed, and another is about to open. I will miss it all dearly. It’s impossible for me to not miss it. However, I have another eternity of mine to face. Another four years for me to endure forever until it ends. And it will end. It will all end. Really, that’s what makes it all worthwhile.
Until tomorrow, or next time. Whichever comes first.
